Alright, so I almost wussed out and took off for the day, but I'm feeling much better now. So here I am. Aren't you proud of me?

Aaaaaaanyway... So the trip was good and bad. But mostly good. It was about 95% good. How's that? And it was a lot of fun and very interesting.

I stayed with Mattycakes Thursday night and I got there around 8:00 p.m. It was a combination of factors, working late, stopping for gas, traffic, stopping at Target and Starbucks, etc... So I finally get there. We hung out for a while, I showered and we took some DVDs back and stopped at Target again. He had this canker sore. And I guess it was on his tongue in the back and it was constantly rubbing against his molars. That's why there were so many trips to Target. I stopped to get him Orajel and then we went back later to get him some Listerine. It sounded infected since he was in so much pain. No big deal. He had to work on Friday and I spent the morning cleaning out my car and loafing around in preparation for the trip. So we finally left and he was a pouty boy the entire way up there. We hardly spoke for the entire drive. It hurt when he talked or ate anything. Don't get me wrong, I know he was in pain. And I am totally over it now, but I was getting so irritated with his silence and his mopiness. But that's just me. So I ended up driving the whole way up there. I did it in 6.5 hours. After everyone said it was an 8 hour drive. Heh. We got into Wilmington around 7:30 p.m. and went straight to the soccer game. Heather was nowhere to be found so I left Matt in the stands to find her and I finally did. Her and I hung out for about 10 minutes before I went to get Matt. It was good venting, girl, let's smoke a cigarette time. And it alleviated all of my ill feelings towards Matt. So see? That's all the bad. Only 5% of badness and the rest is all fun. I'm getting off track. We're watching the game and clouds are circling the field and lightning is striking everywhere in the distance. We were about to walk to the other end of the field for the second half of the game and we all stopped. Mine and Heather's and all of the other girls standing near us hair was all standing straight up. It was really freaky. Matt was laughing and we were all freaking out standing next to a chain-link fence and metal bleachers. In about 5 minutes the game was called. They won. We went for a beer and then to Heather and Walter's. Walter went out for post game celebration and we stayed in and just chilled on the front porch. Matt and I started watching the English Patient and ended up crashing out around 1:00 a.m.

We slept until about 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. I was sitting outside when Walter got back from practice and we were all sort of milling around deciding what to do. Showers were taken and clean clothes put on and Heather and Matt and I took off for downtown. We at lunch at the Italian Bistro, how original, and it was really good. Right as we were leaving it started pouring and thundering and lightning and whatnot. We ventured into a few shops here and there but it was all touristy type stuff. No rare finds or anything. We also went to quite a few overpriced galleries. We tried to find some animation houses but had no luck. We ended up heading back and Matt and I curled up on the couch and watched the rest of the English Patient. Which I might add was very good. I'd heard it was long, and slow and boring. But I liked it. So then more soccer. We made it on time and it was a great game. The Hammerheads were winning again 2-0. It was really wet and the players were getting hurt left and right.

Alright, it's lunch time, I'll be back in an hour or so.

Okay, so sorry for the interruption, but seeing as how I'm going to stay at work today I needed some food in my tummy especially with all that Advil I've taken. So back on track... All the players are getting hurt and sliding around the field, but it was a really exciting game. There was a penalty kick on the Hammerheads and we were all stressing out about Walter missing it, but he didn't! He did collide with someone on the other team. Walter's head and someone's knee. *smack* The other guy was down immediately and stayed down. Walter jumped right back up and staggered quite a bit and then down he went. They were both out of the game. Walter ended up having a concussion, but was fine other than that. They ended up losing in overtime 4-3, but it was such a great game. And quite disappointing. The back up goal tender, Justin, isn't all that great. I'm sure he's good, but it was his first professional game, EVER. So I'm sure he was a little nervous and stuff. You know? Post game we went back to Heather and Walter's to change and get beautified for Saturday night. Oh, did I mention that Matt's canker sore from hell miraculously got better between Friday night and Saturday morning? It did. All was well there. But back to to our Saturday night outing. We went to Waterstreet first. It was a pretty cool bar and they had some groovy blues band playing. It was sort of weird with all the soccer guys and all the girls that follow them around that aren't their girlfriends. It was almost like a big fraternity. But it was fun. A lot of the guys were really cool as well as their girlfriends, it was the ones who were on the prowl that seemed sort of sketchy. From Waterstreet we went to a club called Level 5. I guess it's the tallest building in Wilmington and the bar is up on the roof top. It was packed. Seriously packed. But it cleared out alright and they had a fun d.j. So I'm not complaining. We all drank way too much. Even Walter had a few by the end of the night, even though he wasn't supposed to. He was bored, watching all the drunkards. Not too long before we left I ran into Thom. Thomas Hayden Church to be exact. Though I didn't know that was his name until I looked it up. He played Lowell on Wings and he was a Cowboy in Tombstone. He was nice, he shook my hand and told me he thought it was hilarious that I thought it was so crazy. That's what I said to him. We were walking over to where Heather and Walter were, trying to navigate through the crowd and I got pushed right into him. I looked up and I said, "I know you." He said, "really?" And I said, "yeah, this is crazy. What's your name?" And he was all, "I thought you knew me... I'm Thom, I think it's great that you think this is crazy." And I say, "Thom, I'm drunk. Have a good night." And that was my brush with a celebrity in Wilmiwood. We ended up closing the bar at about 2:00 a.m. Which was fun, fun, fun. Heather and I got left in the parking lot while our arsehole boyfriends thought it would be funny to drive around the block a couple of times. Heather made fast friends with a couple of fellows who Walter referred to as "Bill & Ted" for the rest of the night and Heather earned her title of Hoochiest Hoochie Momma. She was so foul mouthed and obnoxious, it was great. I've never seen Heather so drunk in all of my life. We got back to their place and Matt and I snagged the shower. That was nice after a night of drinking, flirting, sweating and dancing. Co-ed showers are the best. After the shower Walter made us all turkey sandwiches and him and Heather took their bath. Matt and I took over the guest bedroom for a little over an hour so we could have some privacy and not waste all of Heather and Walter's water, you know? By the time we made it back to the couch to sleep Heather and Walter were asleep. We weren't too far behind.

I think we all slept until around 11:00 a.m. on Sunday morning and then didn't get out of bed until noon. We had planned on leaving around noon, but that didn't happen. We packed our stuff and dressed and went for lunch at Flaming Amy's Burrito Barn. It was really good. We were stuffed by the time we left. Then back to Heather and Walter's to get our stuff and take last minute pictures and give hugs and all that. It was about 3:00 p.m. by the time we left. Matt ended up driving the whole way home to make up for not driving on the way up. I got to play his Game Boy Advance the whole way home in return. Not a bad deal, eh? We got to his place around 9:00 p.m.

Messages were checked, father's called and wished Happy Father's Day, showers were taken and I was asleep before midnight.
